TRACK ACTIVITY UPDATE - September 4th, 2012

September 4th, 2012 Race Update       Richard Schutte

Mid august

Things are steadily moving ahead at the race track site with truck loads of fill coming onto the site almost daily. The ground had absorbed most of the surface water we had been plagued with -- until last week when another torrential downpour refilled the low spots. We have made enough headway that the latest standing water, although an irritant, has little effect on our progress. That’s enough about the water.

End of august

Thanks to the individuals we name below, up to twenty loads of fill per day are being delivered to the track. This fill is being used to build a staging area for future deliveries. The challenges in building this track are immense but we are on target at this point.

We have acquired a 225 cat excavator and a D5b bulldozer that we are currently repairing and will put into service shortly. We have been using one of Kevin Monteith’s D7 dozers. His cooperation in letting us use his equipment, moving equipment for us, and assistance in general has been invaluable. Other race enthusiasts such as Louie and Norm Nadine, and Rick Simpson  to name a few, have also contributed in a significant manner and I intend to identify their assistance in an appropriate manner in a future update.

Up to this point we have been able to keep up with the work at the racetrack site, however I can foresee the time when we will be asking for volunteers with equipment experience to assist. I look forward to formalizing some volunteer race support groups and we are still working on our first race meeting.

One piece of clothing has been placed on the apparel section of the website. The first shipment of T shirts has all been spoken for, but we expect more shortly. We will be adding more options, such as another T shirt colour, hats, decals and other promotional apparel as demand warrants. We would also be pleased to contact our supplier and inquire about customization to personalize our products. Examples would be names, numbers etc.  The proceeds of these sales will help us continue to build our website and bring you the information we hope you enjoy. Advertising on our website is also available. Please contact us should you require information.

Our Race Desk has been an overwhelming project due to the time required to do this in a professional manner (which you all deserve.) We will get back to this shortly, but our resources are stretched at this point in time.

Our track will require several things, not the least of, is your support and patience.
